Being a dad is rewarding but stressful, and whether we like to admit it or not there are times we all
question ourselves as dads. It is easy to get wrapped up in the stress, so easy that many dads simply
retreat at the thought of every small obstacle that arises. We get wrapped up in minute details, thinking
of small decisions as competition, wondering what other dads are doing about the same thing, or if our
decision is going to measure up to theirs. We get so caught up in thinking like this that we just do not
decide. We instead decide not to try. But the truth is that we do measure up. Even if our first choice
did not work out, and the guy across the street made a better choice. The only time that we fail, is
when we stop trying. We do not all have the same knowledge resources and skills, so we should not be
comparing ourselves to all the other dads around us. We also must let go of judging other dads too,
because just like we do not always know best neither do they. Coming from different walks of life is
what makes us unique and special as dads. God knew in advance the kind of dad it would take to raise
your kids, and he equipped you with everything that you need to raise your kids.
